Daniel Schwabauer - Author
Daniel Schwabauer is an award-winning author and teacher. He is the creator of The One Year Adventure Novel, Cover Story, Amazing True Life Stories and The Legends of Tira-Nor. He will be speaking to students about entrepreneurship and risk taking, dreaming big, writing in the real world, technology and the endless opportunities it brings to authors and students.
His professional work includes stage plays, radio scripts, short stories, newspaper columns, comic books and scripting for the PBS animated series Auto-B-Good. His young adult novels, Runt the Brave and Runt the Hunted, have received numerous awards, including the 2005 Ben Franklin Award and the 2008 Eric Hoffer Award. He graduated with honors from Kansas University’s Masters program in Creative Writing in 1995. Dr. Mark Matthews
Dr. Matthews served as the Chairman of the Dept. of Anesthesiology and Co-director of the operating rooms at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO for 5 years. St. Luke's is a large tertiary care center with academic affiliation with the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Currently, Dr. Matthews is retired and serves on the Board of Directors for Steps of Faith, a non-profit public charity dedicated to providing prosthetic care, hope, and comfort to amputees needing financial support. He also volunteers his time traveling to Haiti and other third world countries performing life healing surgeries.

Candace Parker
Candace Parker is a retired Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at Johnson County Community College. She brings wisdom and experience as a nurse and professor for our students. She will be discussing skills and opportunities in the health care field as well as habits and goals for successful college students.
